A successful download is the beginning of a check, not the end. Use this three-part checklist with any export tool.
1. Open it independently
Unzip the package if needed. Open a readable file without relying on the original chat page. If the result needs a viewer you do not have, learn how to access it before you need it.
2. Compare what matters
Check the first and last messages, important passages and a longer conversation. Confirm which account, project and date range the export covers. A file count alone cannot show completeness.
3. Test the resources
Open important images and attachments. Distinguish originals, previews, transcripts and remote links. Try offline access. Record missing items and retain earlier valid copies rather than replacing them with a partial result.
Keep a separate backup of your computer. Local files can still be lost to disk damage or device loss.
