Before relying on a backup
- Save while the content is accessible.
- Open the saved chat and compare important sections.
- Check missing resources and keep an independent device backup.
Why an independent copy matters
Community reports describe platform account-access problems, missing content in official export packages and long waits for account recovery. These are individual platform experiences, not OwnMyChats backup reports or incident-frequency measurements.
